Privacy Policy

1. What Arkhon AI does

Arkhon AI is a Chrome extension that lets you chat with any webpage, summarise content, fill forms, and automate browser tasks using an AI model that runs locally on your device. The AI model (Gemma 3 1B) is downloaded once and stored in your browser's file system. All inference happens on your CPU — no cloud API is involved.

2. Data we do NOT collect

• We do not collect, transmit, or store any data on external servers.
• We do not use analytics, crash reporting services, or telemetry of any kind.
• We do not require an account or any form of registration.
• We do not sell, share, or license any information about you or your usage.

3. Data stored locally on your device

The following data is stored exclusively in your browser and never leaves your device:

• Settings — your preferences (system prompt, response style, auto-index toggle) are saved in chrome.storage.local.
• Personal knowledge for form fill — any text you enter in the "Personal Info" field is stored in chrome.storage.local and used only to fill forms at your request.
• Chat history — your conversation history per tab (last 60 messages) is stored in your browser's IndexedDB. Cleared when you clear the chat or uninstall the extension.
• AI model files — the Gemma 3 1B model (~700 MB) and embedding model (~33 MB) are downloaded once from Hugging Face and cached in your browser's Origin Private File System (OPFS).
• Session state — temporary flags stored in chrome.storage.session, automatically cleared when Chrome closes.

4. Page content access

When you click "Read this page", the extension extracts the visible text of the active tab and sends it to the local AI model running in your browser. This text is processed entirely on-device and is not transmitted anywhere. It is held in memory for the duration of your session and discarded when you close the tab or clear the chat.

5. Form field access

When you use the form fill feature, the extension reads the names, labels, and types of input fields on the current page. This information is processed locally to match fields with your personal knowledge text. No form data is transmitted externally.

6. Agent mode and browser automation

Agent mode uses the Chrome DevTools Protocol (CDP) to read the accessibility tree of the active tab and perform actions (click, type, scroll) on your behalf. The debugger is attached only while Agent mode is active and detached immediately when the agent stops, you navigate away, or the extension updates. No data from the debugger session is stored or transmitted.

7. YouTube transcript access

On YouTube pages, the extension fetches the video transcript directly from YouTube's public caption API — the same URL your browser loads to display subtitles. No credentials are intercepted or stored by the extension.

8. Network requests

The only outbound network requests made by the extension are:

• Model download — one-time download of AI model files from huggingface.co on first use.
• YouTube captions — fetching public caption tracks from youtube.com when viewing a YouTube video.
• YouTube InnerTube API — a fallback request to YouTube's player API to retrieve caption data if the page-based method fails.

No request is ever made to any Arkhon-owned or third-party analytics server.

9. Permissions explained

• activeTab — to read the current tab's URL and title for context.
• scripting — to inject the chat interface into pages.
• storage — to save settings and chat history locally.
• alarms — to keep the AI service worker alive during long operations.
• debugger — for Agent mode only; never active without user initiation.
• sidePanel — to show the chat interface as a Chrome side panel.
• webNavigation — to detect page navigation and update the chat context.
• <all_urls> — to inject the chat button on any page you visit. The extension only activates when you interact with it.

10. Children's privacy

Arkhon AI is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

11. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
